Information On Genital Herpes

Genital Herpes and Genital Warts are two different conditions.  This blog is specifically related to Genital Warts or HPV. We do believe that is information is relevant and that is why we are posting it here as it is an STD.

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD), caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2). Most genital herpes caused by HSV-2. Most people have no or only minimal signs and symptoms of HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When symptoms occur, they usually appear as one or more sores on or around the genitals or anus. Blisters break, so tender ulcers (ulcer) that may take two to four weeks for the first time face heals. Typically, another outbreak weeks or months after the first appearance, but it is almost always less severe and shorter than the first outbreak. Although the infection may remain indefinitely in the body, the frequency decreases with time.

How common is genital herpes?

The results of nationally representative study shows that genital herpes infection is common in the U.S.. National, 16.2%, or about one in six people 14-49 years, genital HSV-2 infection. Over the last decade, the percentage of Americans with genital herpes in the United States has not changed.

Genital HSV-2 infection is more common in women (about one in five women 14-49 years) than men (about one every nine men 14-49 years). Transmission from an infected female and male partner is possibly infected women to men partner.

How do people get genital herpes?

HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be found and released from wounds caused by viruses, but they are also freely between outbreaks of skin that does not appear to be a pain. Generally, one person only HSV-2 infection during sexual intercourse with a person who has genital infections of HSV-2. Transmission can occur with an infected partner who does see any visable symptoms or experience any pain, thus does not know that he or she is infected.

HSV-1 can cause genital herpes, but is more generally associated infections of the mouth and lips, called “fever blisters.” HSV-1 infection of the genitals can cause genital-genital or oral-genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection. Genital HSV-1 outbreaks again less than regular genital HSV-2 outbreaks.

What are the signs and symptoms of genital herpes?

Most people infected with HSV-2 are not aware of their infection. But if the signs and symptoms during the first outbreak, they can freely express themselves. The first outbreak usually occurs within two weeks after the virus is transmitted and treated normally within two to four weeks. Other signs and symptoms can develop during the first episode, the second crop of sores, and flu symptoms, including fever and swollen glands. But most people with HSV-2 infection of the wound may experience very mild symptoms that they will not even notice or that they confuse with insect bites or another skin condition.

People diagnosed with first episode of genital herpes can expect several (usually four or five) outbreaks (symptomatic recurrences) within one year. Over time these recurrences usually decrease in frequency. It is possible that a person learns the “first episode” years after the infection was acquired.

What are the complications of genital herpes?

Genital herpes can cause painful recurrent genital ulcers in many adults, and herpes infections can be serious people with compromised immune systems. Regardless of the severity of symptoms, genital herpes often leads to psychological distress in people who know they are infected.

In addition, genital HSV can cause fatal infections in newborns. It is important that women avoid contracting herpes during pregnancy, as newly acquired infection during late pregnancy increase the risk of transmitting child. If a woman has active genital herpes delivery, Cesarean delivery is usually done. Fortunately, infection of a child by a woman with herpes infection is rare.

Herpes may play a role in the spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Herpes can people more susceptible to HIV infection and HIV-positive persons, is more contagious.

The Difference Between A Wart And A Mole, HPV

The Difference Between A Wart And A Mole

Although warts and moles may appear to be the same they are not related conditions. They are thought to be because the often look alike. Warts are defined as small areas of a long standing viral infection. Moles are described as areas of the skin that are heavily pigmented with melanin, the substance that is responsible for general skin coloring.

Warts will vary in their appearance. Warts are not dangerous but can most definitely become a nuisance. A mole that you have from birth may eventually develop into a malignant melanoma. If this occurs it should be removed by a physician immediately. Some types of warts are as follows. We all probably know about a common wart. These will appear on your hands or feet.

The typical common wart is a hard lump that has a roughened ,cauliflower-like surface. Moles can appear anywhere on the body. They are small, roughly circular areas of skin that are much darker than the surrounding skin. The larger moles may have course hairs growing out of them. Some moles are present from birth. In some people a few have developed during their childhood. Look for different changes in your children’s skin to make sure that you always know that they do not need medical attention of any sorts.

There is also a wart that may be mistaken for a mole that is called molluscum contagiosum. These are tiny pale lumps that are filled with cheesy material. These can be confusing because they are not true warts but they are just like warts. These appear in groups that are usually in children, especially children who have eczema. The appearance of a mole  is a dark patch that constitutes a mole. A mole may be flat or raised above the surrounding skin. There is also a sebaceous cysts. These cysts are sometimes mistaken for warts.

A sebaceous cyst typically will appear  as a soft, smooth, yellowish lump just under the surface of the skin. Sometimes a tiny dark dot can be seen in the skin over the center of the cyst. Your scalp is the most common site for these harmless growths. Most warts will disappear on their own within a few months but sometimes in rare cases it may be several years. If you are concerned about any spots that have come up on your skin then please do not ever hesitate talking with your doctors about these concerns.

If you have warts that you may think are unsightly or annoying go to a dermatologist who can recommend a treatment that is right for your situation. In older people ,what looks like a wart may be a more serious skin condition such as a type of skin cancer such as basal cell carcinoma, So if you are a person who knows a elderly person that might see this as a wart please get it checked out immediately. It could make a great deal of difference in their health.

Who Gets Genital Warts? : Dealing with HPV

Who Gets Genital Warts?

Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus or also known as HPV. It is the most commonly sexually transmitted disease in the United States. There are certain forms of the disease that are associated with cervical cancer and other genital cancers. There are many people who are forced to deal with this terrible and annoying problem. There are about fifty million people that have become infected each year. There are also studies that have shown the levels of HPV infection in women are high and even higher in the young women. There are many young people being infected with genital warts due to the fact that safe sex is not in place. Many young people could avoid having to deal with the disease if there were to use protection when they have intercourse. A condom is good way to prevent this from happening to most people. There are a lot of college students that are finding genital warts to be a nuisance for them. There is an average of fourteen percent of college students that become infected with HPV each year. Both males and females can get genital warts.

There is no one person that has immunity from this disease. Anyone of any gender or age can be infected. On men, the warts will grow on the tip of the penis or at the opening of the anus. For women, the warts can be on an around the vagina and anus as well. If someone has oral sex with anyone that has genital warts, they may grow on their mouth also. It is serious disease, but not one that is potentially fatal. It is also important to seek medical attention for it as well. You will need to have medicine for the warts so that you do not have to life with them. Although you get cream or ointment for the problem, you will still carry the virus in your skin. This means that you are going to be susceptible to the virus and it can break out on your body at any time. Stress is related to the outbreak of genital warts too. When you have the virus, it is said that having a lot of stress upon you is a good factor for making the warts appear. It is something that cannot be controlled and all you can do is follow the doctor’s orders and keep having protected sex with a condom.

Stress will weaken the immune system and it is important to also know that you may have the warts without even knowing it. You may have slight bumps that will feel like small pimples to the touch. In somecases, people do not have any actual warts at all that peak out from the skin.

Information Regarding Warts Of All Types

As a small rough tumor, the warts can occur mainly in hands and feet. It is the skin infection by a virus known as HPV or the human papilloma virus. Studies have shown that this common virus, on the hands or the feet, can infect three out of four persons. The warts simply stay for months or year and disappear naturally, but in some cases, they develop cancer.

It is advisable to wash the hands after touching the warts. There are some remedies for the warts removal, though sometimes the home remedies can be there too. Keratolysis Treatment: Salicylic acid is required to be given to the area affected by the warts. You can get the Salicylic acid in the drugstore or in the supermarkets in two forms: adhesive pads concentrated with the Salicylic acid and bottle of liquid Salicylic acid.

Wash the wart-affected area properly with a medicated cleansing solution, rub the area with a pumice stone or the emery board, and then apply the Salicylic acid. It would take nearly 12 weeks for any solid wart to disappear. Cryosurgery or the Cryotherapy: This treatment consists of freezing the warts by the liquid nitrogen; the wart and the surrounding dead skin will fall off easily.

Laser Treatment: When all other treatments turn out to be ineffective in removing the warts, doctor might use laser; the whole process is quite painful and it would leave scar on your skin, too. Imiquimod: A soft and topical cream, known as Aldara, is applied on the warts. This will create interferon production that will enhance the body immunity system to ward off the warts.

However, it has some side effects also like the redness and irritation to the skin. Candida Injections: The body immunity system can be raised by injecting the Candida solution. The body will then fight off the warts. Chemical Treatment: Cantharidin is a popularly known chemical to be used in the warts area; the warts will be blistered. After that, the doctor, at his next visit, will remove the dead skin totally.

A home remedy: Duct tape occlusion therapy or the usage of the Duct tape to remove the warts is another effective way. You can get the Duct Tape in the drugstores and it is found to be a successful removal treatment. Studies show that some use banana skin, vinegar, hot water and washing liquid, aerosol sprays, tea tree oil, potatoes or cauliflower juice in the warts effected area.

Genital warts have no bindings on sex but women are the major victims suffering from this problem. In males the genital warts are quite visible around the penis but in the females they circle even in the inner layer of the vagina and thus become difficult to detect. And the warts get hidden in these layers. The virus spread faster in the warmth of the area and if the woman is an infection carrier, she can outspread the disease easily to her partner’s body.

How to Cure Genital Warts?
Once a person is diagnosed with genital warts, the physician is likely to suggest treatments for genital warts removal. Genital warts treatment would depend on three factors, namely the location, appearance, and the number of warts present. Along with wart removal, the specialist would also focus on lessening the presence of viruses in the body. Here are the possible treatments for removing genital warts.

Topical Medication: The doctor will recommend some kind of cream or liquid to the patient, which he or she has to apply at the infected area for some weeks. With this treatment measure, it could take a few days to completely cure genital warts.

Cryptotherapy: In this type of treatment, the physician freezes the warts by applying liquid nitrogen. Due to this blisters appear on that part and after the wart heals, new skin comes on that area. Different Signs Of Certain Warts

Do you have single or multiple cauliflower-like bumps in the areas of vagina, cervix, vulva, penis or the rectum? Are those signs soft, moist or flesh-colored? If you have this kind of peculiarities, then it is the time to talk to a dermatologist as soon as possible; chances are you might be infected with the HPV. HPV or the Human papillomavirus is very much instrumental for most of the sexually transmitted diseases (STI) in the world.

There are at most 100 kinds of HPV of which only 30 are spread by the sexual contacts. If the warts are not properly cured, the outcome could be drastic. The HPV causes the genital warts with barely any symptom, but just do not get worried. The genital warts, if diagnosed in time, can be curable without any tension so far. The diagnosis is very simple and concise; it involves using the acetic acid to the infected area.

The solution makes the infected area white. The wart becomes visible. Now, it is easier for the health care provider to take a sample tissue from the contaminated zone. That tissue will be further examined under a microscope. Therefore, the examiner can be certain to determine whether it has a cancerous form or not. There is, obviously, no specific treatment for the warts.

Those infections come naturally and fade out naturally after certain period, but sometimes the infection does not go away. For such circumstances, it is advisable for you seek the help of a dermatologist. On the basis of the intensity of this virus the doctor will prescribe several medicines including Imiquimod cream, podophyllin antimitotic solution, podofilox solution, 5-fluorouracil cream and trichloroacetic acid.

Podophyllin antimitotic solution, 5-fluorouracil cream or the podofilox solutions are strictly prohibited in times of pregnancy, since there might be the chances that the skin might absorb the solutions which might cause birth defects in your baby. Three kinds of known treatments are there: Freezing the warts by the liquid nitrogen, burning the warts by the electronic needle and Laser treatment.

Now it is up to your consent and on your health adviser, which process you will opt for. Sometimes the physician will inject the antiviral drug alpha interferon to the warts-affected area. It is a traditional approach and those who can not afford to buy expensive drug, this method is good for them. Warts are common and many people suffer from them from time to time. Knowing which treatment is best for you is very important, so make sure that you do your homework.

Warts do not have to bother you so terribly, do something about them today to try and get rid of them for good. There is no reason to just ignore them, not if they bother you that terribly. Find a cream or ointment to treat your warts or talk with your doctor about other treatment options for the warts you have noticed on your body. They will be able to tell you a lot more about warts, so make sure you ask questions.

These are the different types of ways to get rid of warts. There is cryothreapy, it is where they are frozen off. Then you have electrocautery. This is where they are burned off with electricity. Then there is laser surgery. This is where they are burned off with a high-intensity laser. And finally we have surgical excision. This is where they are cut out. These all can be very painful. They will give you something for the pain. All of these procedures can leave scars, and may be very painful depending on the warts location so choose carefully.
